In Mark 10:14-16, Jesus says, ‘ “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.” Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.’
This program is designed for families of children attending public schools from Kindergarten through eighth grade. Your enthusiasm for sowing the seeds of faith in your family, whether at Mass, classes, lessons, traditions and policies will speak volumes to your children as they mature in their faith! We hope that our enthusiasm for faith formation is contagious and that you will always feel welcome in our office and program.
Welcome to the Parish School of Religion at Blessed Sacrament. The PSR program fulfills our parish mission statement by offering a quality Catholic education to the children of the parish who attend public schools. We meet each Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM from September to mid-May. Students from first through eighth grades gather to learn the truths of the Catholic faith and how to apply those truths to their daily lives. Those who are sufficiently prepared in second and eighth grades will receive the Sacraments of Eucharist (Holy Communion in third grade); and Confirmation (in eighth grade). If you have questions regarding our program, please contact Mrs. Karen Senger.
Our Registration Night took place on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. and our PSR school year began on Wednesday, September 9, with classes from 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM. You have the option of registering by printing out the registration forms (scroll down on this page) and returning the completed forms and fee payment to the school or parish office. Please put the forms in an envelope labeled "PSR". You can also choose to submit the online registration form below. If you have any questions, please contact the PSR Coordinator, Mrs. Karen Senger at blessedsacramentpsr@gmail.com.
Because of Covid19, we are taking all precautions to keep one another safe. We will have certain protocols to follow and options available for home learning.
Class and Mass attendance are very important for the children during this formation year. This should be the top priority on the list of things "To Do." We do not want the children to be shortchanged when it comes to this preparation.
The 2020/2021 PSR fees are $50 for the first child and $25 for each additional child. In addition, third graders and eighth graders pay a $30 sacramental fee for Confirmation. Checks should be made payable to "Blessed Sacrament".
First Communion and Confirmation for PSR 3rd graders will take place on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Confirmation for the 8th grade students will take place in Spring 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Older children with no faith formation background are placed in their regular school grade for the first year of RE. The second year, they are placed in their grade level class and the Special Sacrament class.
