Gospel of Life
The purpose of the Blessed Sacrament Gospel of Life committee is to assist our Pastor in propagating Jesus’s gift of and call to respect life. “I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.” Jn 10:10 We seek to assist the Pastor in cultivating in our parishioners the understanding of Christ’s teaching as handed on to us by the Church on moral theology and life related issues. We seek to provoke inquiry into the call of Pope John Paul II to understand the “Theology of the Body” as we interact with one another and with the Eucharist. We seek to instill the understanding that: “What came to be through him (Christ) was life, and this life was the light of the human race.” Jn 1:1-4.
Pursuant to this we seek to initiate prayer for life, and in support of life. We also seek to help our pastor debunk false teaching on issues such as abortion, euthanasia, contraception, chastity, and celibacy. To quote St. Paul: “See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy according to the tradition of men, according to the elemental powers of the world and not according to Christ. Col 2:6-8.
Lastly, we hope to instill in our parishioners the desire to always choose the “Culture of Life” over the “Culture of Death”. “I call heaven and earth today to witness against you; I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendents may live.” Dt. 30:19.
